Rebeca Mckin: Head Start will except him the year before he attends Kindergarten.Preschool programs that are not state/federally funded usually have three year old programs. It's really a personal decision. I recommend at least on year of preschool but children also benefit from 2 years. Mozell Sponsler: First ask him why he doesn't want to go. It could be that he has some strange idea about what preschool is. If he doesn't really have a reason you should talk to him ahead of time and explain that you will drop him off and pick him back up later. Then when the time comes drop him off give him a quick hug and leave no matter what his reaction. My daughter was famous for this reaction she would cry, scream, and throw a fit every time I left. I felt so guilty, this went on for a week and then she would give me the same reaction when it was time to go home too. It is a pretty normal reaction and it usually only lasts a couple of minutes and the child realizes it isn't working and decides to enjoy himself.
