What are the suitable types of hardware and software for a library computer?

Caterina Yeargan: Any Mac, and run a distribution of Linux on it, like Ubuntu.Mac because you don't want to be doing hardware maintenance every day.Linux because of the high customisability, like you might only want access to a web browser and a word processor, whatever you want.Or if the Library is poor, HP/Compaq is the second best built. Still use Linux on it.DEFINITELY DO NOT put Windows on it, you do not want people screwing up your computer.And also a tip - libraries make the computer format every time it starts up, something which I've seen done with Windows, but I'm not sure it's done at a level above Windows, it is most likely done before Windows loads.EDIT: I forgot a disadvantage. Disadvantage for having Mac's: (depends on what kind of people go in the library, poor or not) people might attempt to steal them.No ones going to look at a HP/Compaq, Acer, Asus, and say "Wow that looks really expensive, I'll steal it!"Or get Dell-AlienWare computers, if you want a r! eally cool looking library and don't care that it's by Dell.
