Jamika Gregorio: Rebecca Morgani was thinking tag my friend so he can only leave home during certain times like 7pm to 7 am something like that so he could still be in the community but having restrictions on hin that way he could still meet up with friends family and his CMHT he needs to be punished i just think lock up will push him over the edge he self harms badly and has gone to a plastic surgeon in the past and i fear if he goes to prison he'll slash his neck not his arms...Show more
Tom Romer: To answer your initial question: there are 2 options for him. He can be given felony probation or he will serve time in prison for the offense or offenses he did. I am currently going through this same ordial. My husband is on probation right now and he is getting charged with another offense Burglery of building. More than likely he will be going to prison or jail for his actions. I have been told by my husbands pyschotrist that bad or poor choices are not part of the ! bipolar disorder. As far as your friend hurting himself, if the jail or prison knows he has mental health problems they will put him in a patted cell to prevent him from hurting himself. (my husband recently was in jail, and he told them he wanted to kill himself and so they put him in a patted cell)I see in your additional details that he needs to be punished. He will more than likely go to prison and the reason I say that is because he was already on probation and he broke the rules while on probation. ( I have been actually told this about my husband as well) There is a possibility that he can get probation but, of course its not guranteed. Please don't take me the wrong way, I am just giving information that was told to me....Show more
Leontine Kreitz: not a profesional but my husband had went to prison and now has 10 yrs he was at a store and stole a bycicle and pulled a knife out but had never used it he was extremly intoxicated bipolar, add, and many others ect! i hired a lawyer thinking it would help but didnt he tried fo! r the rule 11 but got denied they said as long as he is medicated that he was capable of comprehending he has also had a record and was on probation at the time they wanted to make an example. But the judge had advised he be in a prison with the maximum amount of health help and now is in tuscon doing his time he also had tramatic issues from the past and needed mental help not incarseration. I tried doing my best with reports witnesses ect but it did no good his plea itself was 10 to 21 yrs rediculous i think this is also in arizona and they are a lot stricter on crimes if you are a repeat offender i hope i was able to give you some insight good luck...Show more
Tawny Grosskreutz: We do not get lienency because of a mental illness. IF he is in treatment and IF he is taking meds and IF he is visibly trying to change his behavior they might take it into consideration.... however.... even mentally ill, we are responsible for out actions unless we are psychotic... and ev! en if psychotic all they do is wait until you are no longer psychotic then punish you for what you did while psychotic... your friend is violent, what would you suggest be done with him? Tell him nicely that he is a bad boy and he shouldn't do it again??? Apparently they tried that the first time and while on probation for an assult charge, he assulted someone. Hopefully they will see that he continues with treatment while he is in jail but mental illness or not he has to pay for the things he does. If locking him up is what it takes to protect people then lock him up they should.... what do you tell the next person he assults? I am Bipolar and do not use it as an excuse to behave badly........Show more
