GPS, what do you use your GPS for?

Stormy Beliard: Yes to all 3 ..I use it for work mostly .. I drive tour buses for a living and I could be anywhere in the US or Canada .. I have to know where I'm going .I have been to a lot of City's but it saves me from having to look at a map constantly I can plan my route , see points of interest .. such as rest area's hotels , museums , even ABM's .. It will give me turn by turn instructions on how to get to a pre set location ,It gives me the direction of travel , the speed at which i am travelling , estimated time of arrival , I can see if there are bends in the road ahead ..For me it is an invaluable part of my job ..I take it with me every time I drive ..If I am in NY City , commercial vehicles are not allowed on some Parkways .. they have heavy fines for that , I can program it to show me only truck routes , some units have a feature that uses Sat radio to update current traffic conditions on the highways . What's it used for ... to make me look like a profes! sional driver .....Show more

Demetrius Coaster: I have one of those GPS devices that you can install and uninstall in any vehicle you like and monitor it from your home PC in real time. I rent it out to people who are trying to find out info on their spouse or teenager. I also rent out nanny cams and other gadgets. I'm a certified PI and renting the equipment out and letting people do their own snooping is worlds better than sitting in a hot van for 16 hours with no where to go pee lol. It also allows me to avoid paying hefty fees for bonding and insurance. YAY FOR AVOIDING FEES!...Show more

Randa Hessell: I used my Garmin Rino 120 in Iraq and Afghanistan to mark weapons cache's that we found. It also came in handy when marking houses that we've searched as a backup in case we lost the original map.... which happened more than I'd like to admit.I also used it for determining when sunrise and sunset were going to happen. I could plan missions around these ti! mes with much greater ease.Back Stateside, I use my Garmin i5 ! for road navigation. It's been a lifesaver when trying to find my way through inner-city roadways.Recreation? The Rino 120 has games on it that you can play with other Rino 120 users. GPS tag and hunting was always fun. You could track the other users positions in a kind of upgraded hide-and-seek game. My buddies and their kids have fun with that one.So, all three would fit into my personal usage of GPS. Hope I helped....Show more

Miguel Densley: GPS has many uses. For an ordinary person like myself, a GPS is usually used for road navigation in the car, to get around town - with a GPS, a road directory isn't necessary, and finding and driving the best possible route is much easier. With the Points of Interest feature in many GPS systems, however, you can also use GPS for finding interesting locations close by, or a parking space or a service station for fuel....Show more
